Cricut and Stencil Technique for Ceramic Makers with Turn Studio

Image
I've always marvelled at the beauty of ceramics. Its construct is so mesmerizing and no matter what the product may be, it gives the product a very professional touch. Very recently i came across a technique used by turn.studio  and i loved it. I loved it so much because i love applying the works of cricut whenever and wherever i can. And finding this technique meant a direct usage for cricut with ceramics! So i thought of making a post about it. The artist behind this technique is Kenny Sing  whom you should definitely follow because he shares a great deal of process videos and these are so very helpful. Now if you're a beginner, this page sound can help you outline almost all the processes that you'll need to focus on. The Technique: what he does is, he uses Adobe Illustrator to design stencils from scratch. These are then cut out on vinyl (for which we can use our cricut) and then sticks this stencil vinyl upon the surface of the ceramic. Sometimes he uses a ...

Cricut and learning tools for Pre-schoolers 1/100: DIY jumping Animals!

Image
Teaching tools are the best! Especially if you're a pre-school teacher or a mom to a preschooler i cannot stress enough how much certain Diys mean. Because kids are active human beings with an insatiable curiousity running in their blood! They just can't get enough of things to play with, to learn! And as the caretaker the responsibility of feeding this curiosity falls upon it is necessary to be in constant search of things to provide this stimulating environment where the child can thrive. Because this learning will mould the kids.  As a cricut enthusiast i find ways to include my cricut in almost anything and everything that i can do. This means i find a way to use my cricut even in the simplest of projects. Why? Because the project becomes even simpler and even gives the work a much more finished look. As a medium perfectionist, this is important to me.  Coming back to the topic at hand, here's a super simple project that you can do for your kids. If you have a c...

what is reverse weeding? how do I do it?

Image
In the simplest of terms, reverse weeding is where you transfer your vinyl first and then then weed. Rather than first weeding and then transferring the vinyl. Benefit: incase of small and intricate cuts, when you weed first and then transfer, it is difficult to get all the tiny particles on the transfer tape. before i learnt how to reverse weed, i used to loose a lot of of my designs because most of than not, i used to be hasty and didn't have the patience to make time for each tiny particle to get stuck to that transfer tape. Sometimes these small materials also move and loose their position. And if they fall of, not to mention how hard it is to pick them up because of its tiny size.  When you reverse weed, you get all of your designs onto the tape. It's fixed, it's steady it's there. No hassle. Now all you need to do is get rid of whatever you don't need. Which is so much simpler! This is why all the professional cricut crafters out there constantly remin...

Cricut and felt project Hack: make cute eyes simple technique!

Image
I love making felt projects. Plushies, keychain plushies, hanging decors and all that. Before i had my cricut all i do was dream about making felt projects because it was difficult for me to cut up the shapes perfectly, taking measurements of each and every piece. this is why every day i wake UPI just can't wait to start crafting! But I'm not someone who knows how to sew. This became a problem when i had to make faces for my plushies. The best option out there was to sew the mouth and eyes. But it's difficult for me. So i thought of something else that would help me not only get around my problem, but also make my plushie so much cuter. I thought of sharing this idea so that anyone could benefit from it. Without further ado, let's get right into it.  Materials Required: Iron on vinyl-small piece Iron/heat press machine Cricut (joy/maker/explore) I used canva to search for the kind of eyes i was looking for.  I searched for ones that have only bla...

Can cricut cut custom shapes on fondats? Now wouldn't that be something! The possibilities would be endless if this was actually possible. Wouldn't it? Not only would it save you so much time, you could even build your confidence. if your cake looks fancier, doesn't it also mean that you can increase the prices a little bit more? I'm here to say that you can actually cut fondants, WITH THE HELP of a Cricut. Any Cricut. Yep.  But this isn't done directly. It needs a little bit of effort. But hey! If shape cutting and drawing isn't your strong suit, i really think that you shouldn't give up. And take up on my advise here. Let me show you two methods of making your Cricut cut custom shapes. Method One: directly.  Now this is not an established mode of cutting fondant with a Cricut because i haven't seen many people doing it. But there are people who do. So instead of sharing the lengthy process of going about this technique let me share you the ...
